Pepper export from January to August 2024

Until the end of August, Vietnam shipped out 183,756 tons of pepper in all kinds, in which black pepper reached 162,721 tons and 21,035 tons of white pepper. Total turnover reached $881,2 million, $754.1 million for black pepper while $127.1 million for white pepper. The export quantity has decreased 2.1% compared to the same period. However, the export turnover increased 43%.

Average price for export black pepper reached $4,712/ton in August, $6,326/ton for white pepper, respectively increased $1,270 for black pepper and $1,371 for white pepper compared the same period last year.

Vietnam’s key pepper export markets include

• Export quantity to the US reached 51,823 tons in the first 8 months of 2024, close to the export quantity in the whole 2023 (54,271 tons), increased 54.3% compared to the same period and occupied 28.2% of the market.
• Germany: 12,021 tons, increased 96.3%
• UAE: 11,744 tons, increased 29.6%
• India: 9,086 tons, increased 10.2%
• China: 8,388 tons, decreased 84.4%
• Netherlands: 7,503 tons, increased 35.9%
